= First English translation of the first Dutch edition published in 1704. Cf. Tiele 174; cf. Cat. NHSM p.204 (ed. 1704 and 1709) and Gay 2808 (ed. 1704). Divided in 22 letters, written from S. George del Mina, the main Dutch trading-station, where the author was chief merchant in the service of the West-India-Company from 1689-1702. Chief source for the knowledge of Dutch slave-trade during the latter half of the 17th century and important for the history of the commercial rivalry with the English, Danes and Brandeburgers.
