75/5450 [Caricature]. Boitard, L.P. (1733-±1770) (attrib.). "The Gothamites in Council. Humbly Inscribed to the Geese in Disgrace sometime call'd the Honest Men of of P---h.". Etching, 24,8x35,2 cm., publ. by D. Job, London, 1751.

= A curious print, probably alluding to the Anglo-French struggle on the New Foundland fishery trade and control of French North America. The legendary vessel the Centurion, commanded by i.a. Anson and Keppel, is shown in the background. There is also a reference to the 'honest men of Portsmouth', the harbour from which the Royal Navy sent squadrons to Newfoundland.

Anonymous (18th cent.). "Des Praetendent Triumph oder Die Rebellion in Schotland an alle Liebhaber des Göttesdiensts und der Freijheit". Etching, cm., w. German caption below, dated "1745".

= Cartoon on the invasion of Bonnie Prince Charlie in 1745, also anti-catholic. Showing a procession of Scotsmen on bagpipe, Bonnie Prince Charlie in a chariot, lead by the pope on the square in front of St. James Palace in London.

AND 21 others, i.a. "A Race from Preston Pans to Berwick", "A Fashionable Shittlecock" and "A Gypsying Party returning home through a Storm" and 6 lithographs by JOHN DOYLE.
