72/2983 [VOC and WIC]. (Maintenance log book of VOC-ships from the Rekenkamer of Amsterdam). Manuscript, pen and ink on paper, mainly recto and verso, (124) lvs. (and ±100 blank lvs.), 1714-1732, contemp. vellum, folio.

= Manuscript log book in which most of the repairs made to the ships in the fleet of the Rekenkamer Amsterdam Verenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie between 1724 and 1733 were documented. The document contains a wealth of information concerning the technical side of the maritime history of the trading company. This document was most likely compiled in the shipyard's clergy office for the archive of the chamber Amsterdam. Contains mainly "Reparatie Zeel" accounts, very detailed reports of all the reconstruction and repair work done to the ships all listed by name, specifying each department ("in 't ruijm" (below deck), "op de overloop", "op 't boevenet" and "op de back"), the exact materials and quantities used and how many men were nessecary to get the job done. The document also lists when ships returned to the shipwarf in Amsterdam and the number of masts needed to be replaced. Some ships mentioned: Noortbeeck, Lugtenburgh, Leijden, Barnevelt, Prattenburgh, Teodora, Voorburgh, Hogenes, Statwijck, Commerrust, Bentvelt, De Baanman, Meerhuijsen, Bouckenroode, Amsterdam, Stabroek and Elisabeth. Some names mentioned: Jacob Maes, Wouter Fraeij, Simon Spruijt, Adriaen van Stavoren, Abraham Baggers, Pieter Baas, Klaas Bout, Nicodemus Stevenszoon, Hendrick Evelingh and Pieter Hillebrantsz.
