= The work chronicles the conversion, apostasy and expulsion of the Moors from Valencia, as well as their expulsion from Castile, Catalonia and Aragon. Fonseca was a Portuguese Dominican living in Valencia sent to Rome to influence opinion in favor of the expulsion. The first edition was printed in Italian in Rome. Palau 93191. = Extremely rare collection of letters concerning the prelude to the Spanish War of Succession as well as the Great Northern War between Sweden and Russia and their allies. Pieces include i.a. "Lettre d'un gentilhomme de la Province de Kent en Angleterre (...)"; "Harangue de Sa Majesté Britannique au Parlement d'Angleterre (...)"; "Lettre d'un Noble Venitien, à un Magistrat Hollandois sur les Affaires d'Espagne" and "Memoire de Mr. de Quiros, Ambassadeur Extra-ordinaire de sa Majesté Catholique, presenté à Messieurs les Etats Généraux des Province Unies". With a plate depicting the Battle of Narva ("Representation de la Victoire remportée par le Roy du Suède sur les Moscovites"). SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE CLVII.

= The Tatler, a British literary and society journal, established by Richard Steele in 1709 and discontinued only two years later. In the tri-weekly journal Steele, who used the nom de plume "Isaac Bickerstaff, Esquire", mixed real gossip heard in London coffee houses with invented stories of his own. Jonathan Swift is also said to have occasionally contributed to The Tatler: no. 32 (a letter in ridicule of some affected ladies of the period), 230 (a letter on books and writing) and 238 (the poem A Description of a City Shower). Rare edition.
