The journey took place between 7 July and 1 August 1770. The gist of both journals consists of descriptions of the monuments that the travellers have visited on their journey, occasionally with comments on their lodgings in the various towns and villages. The second journey began on 8 August 1780 in Amsterdam but stops abruptly on 16 August (during the stay at Spa). The index of visited places is unfinished but shows, just like the title, that Rheims and Paris were also on the list of places that the traveling company was planning to visit.
