73/2253 [Utrecht]. "Handvesten van de Lange Vliet". Manuscript concerning Utrecht, pen and ink on paper, (33)lvs., (19 lvs. containing text), late 17th cent., contemp. hvellum, 21x17 cm.

- Written in one legible hand on paper with 2 different watermarks of the coat of arms of Amsterdam (cf. Laurentius 247-263) and Pro Patria (only in blank lvs. Cf. Laurentius 730-731). Sm. ticket mounted at foot of spine.

= Interesting manuscript concerned with the water board of Heycop or Lange Vliet in Utrecht (including i.a. Vleuten, Maarssen, Breukelen and Kockengen). It contains transcripts of documents dating from the 14th to the 16th century, including regulations, accounts, oaths, legal verdicts etc. which are still the foundation on which the water board is based.

= Comprises i.a.: a division of property of "Jan Janszoon van Sterrenburch ende Margaretha Gruijters" amongst their three daughters Elysabeth, Agnita and Artgen (dated 1587) and three documents concerning a property on the "oostzeijde van de korte Nieuwstraat daar zuijdwaards de heer professor Odé en noordwaards juffrouw de weduwe van Barend van Beeckum naast gelegen zijn" (dated 1737 (2x) and 1750).

= Miscellaneous collection of manuscript documents, all concerning property and/ or people in the province of Utrecht. The oldest document (dated "XV eenendetnegentich, desen XIX en meij") is a deed of transport for property and land in the "heerlickheijt ende jurisdictie van haer [Edele] die gravinne va arenbergen". Other places mentioned: Zuid-Polsbroek, Oostveen, Woerden and Renswoude. Some names: Jacob Arijenszoon Amersfoorter, Casparus Commelin junior), Nicolaas Houting, Pieter de Meijere and Jan Jacob van Westrenen.

- Wax seal lacking.

= Open letter or "octrooij declaratoir" by the Staten van Holland en West Friesland in which Ghijsberta Anthonia van Renesse, daughter of the late Johan van Renesse van Zuylen van der Haer is granted "onversterffelijck leen" of part of the estate of her father ("vier en tsetich mergen gelegen in de lande van Woerden en Cromwijck ende in Bulwijck"). This meant that it was permitted that the estate was transferred to the female descendants. Manuscript documents signed by Johan de Witt are very rare. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE LXVI.

= Some names: Pieter Jacobsen van Cuelen and heirs van Everdingen concerning the sale of "seecker hoffstedolem ofte bomgaertgen soo groot ende cleijn als dat van outs in sijn behoorlijcke bepalinge gelegen is op Ravenswaeij" (dated 1639); Dirck van Brienen, Anna de Ruijter and Alida Geertruijd van der Velden concerning the sale of property (dated 1694) and two manuscript documents comprising the division of the inheritance of the late Johannes van Twist amongst his four children (dated between 1790 and 1803).

AND 17 19th century manuscript documents concerning the "Ambagten van Zegwaart".
