Manuscript, pen and black ink, 118 lvs. and a number of blank lvs., mostly recto only.

- Covers sl. scratched. Otherwise fine.

= The original owner, Usson de Bonnac, was a French diplomat and ambassador to i.a. Sweden and the Ottoman Empire. His coat of arms on the frontcover has been very neatly pasted over with that of Prondre de Guermantes, president of the French Court of Accounts, into whose possession the book subsequently passed. The coat of arms on the backcover was also pasted over but the thin mor. shield has come off and is loosely inserted in the volume. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE CXVIII.

= Bondy p.55: "Amongst the almanacs printed in the Netherlands, the very finely produced De Kleine Tijdwijzer, of Jufferlijke Almanach is outstandingly attractive." The Children's World of Learning 2663; Welsh 4158-4160 (1783, 1791 and 1795); Jacobsen Jensen 1273 (1783, 1787 and 1790); not in Spielmann. No other copies traced. Very nice, partly amorous plates. 68/3138 [Bindings]. 19th cent. tortoise-shell binding with two large finely chiselled golden clasps and catches by unidentified goldsmith, golden hinges attached to binding w. tiny golden pins, a.e.g., sm. 8vo (15,4x10 cm.). - ON: La Sainte Bible, Qui contient le Veux et le Nouveau Testament (Dordr., Blussé et Van Braam, 1826).

- A very fine copy, with tiny chipped spot on both joints and a hardly visible sm. crack at foot of spine.

= Beautiful binding. One golden clasp with monogram "E.B.J.S."(?), a crowned Amsterdam hallmark, letter "C", a lion and an eagle, the other clasps with eagle and lion only. The clasps show (on right clasp) Moses holding the Ten Commandments and (on left clasp) Aaron, the 4 catches show the four evangelists. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE CXIX.
