- Small ticket "Familie-Archief van Beresteyn" on frontcover. Owner's entry dated "1859" indicates that this album was a gift from "Dr C. Leemans" and a catalogue entry was added w. manuscript annotation "door mij gekocht voor f85.- E. van Beresteyn". Including three index lvs.; bookplate on upper pastedown; new endpapers; four lvs. w. later scribblings in pencil. Binding rubbed along extremities; spine-ends worn.

= According to the catalogue entry the album amicorum was compiled during a journey through Germany by the Utrecht Doctor Cornelis van Schagen between 1687 and 1688, after his doctorate. The title-p. contains coats of arms of Van Schagen, Krombrugge, Bergh and Oosterwijk. With entries i.a. by J.G. Graevius, J. Gronovius, T. van Craanen, J. van Muyden, A. Verborcht, L.O. Menckenius, J. Smetius (fils.), F.C. de Gemmingen and J. Browne. Provenance: Frederik Muller, 1910 no.1687 (Collection chevaliers Van Rappard).

= Concerning a building to house destitute old aged people, assigned to De Bazel by the Godelinde Stichting in Bussum. P.J.P. Sluiter was the chairman of this charitable foundation. Two of the letters contain small sketches of groundplans.

= All with manuscript annotations/ directions in red/ yellow pencil (i.a. concerning gas and electricity fittings). The first blueprint is addressed on verso to "De WelEd. Heer P.J.P. Sluiter" by K.P.C. de Bazel and poststamped "Bussum 26X1919". Of the first and second blueprint a duplicate is present (without manuscript annotations). De Bazel's art deco building was demolished in 1975 and replaced by a new building.

Enfin, niets aan te doen, en ik geloof dat desondanks het geheel nog wel waardevol genoeg blijft. (...)."

68/2858 [Art]. Courbet, G. (1819-1877). AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED "G. Courbet" to "Monsieur le directeur de l'exposition d'Anvers", dated "21 Juillet 1870", pen and ink, 1 leaf, recto only.

= Courbet writes about sending in his painting "la courtisane" to an Antwerp exhibition in 1870 (Tentoonstelling voor Schoone kunsten): "Je vous envoie le tableau la courtisane, appartenant a M. Vandemberghe de Bruxelles (...)". He then gives his personal details, such as his birth data and his Parisian address. The painting was shown in the exhibition under the title "La Courtisane". It was later acquired via Durand-Ruel by the American collectors H.O. Havemeyer and his wife and is now part of the collection of Metropolitan Museum in New York under the name Woman With a Parrot.
