= The first Dutch edition. Blackmer 1323: "He remained three years in the Eastern Mediterranean, visiting Egypt, Palestine, Asia Minor and Greece. His book describes these journeys." Europa und der Orient 800-1900, p.408/409: "Die beiden bedeutendsten Quellenwerke zur altägyptische Kunst und Kultur des 18. Jahrhunderts sind die Reisebeschreibungen Richard Pocockes und Frederick Ludwig Nordens. (...) Sein Werk über Ägypten gehörte bald schon zu den unentbehrlichen Informationsquellen der Forscher, Bautheoretiker und Künstler seiner Zeit und wurde in den folgenden Jahren immer wieder gelesen und zitiert. (...) Auf seiner Orientreise besuchte Richard Pococke 1738-1740 auch Palästina, Kleinasien und vor allem Griechenland und beschrieb die dort vorgefundenen Monumente ähnlich genau wie diejenige des Niltales".
