Bound as usual without the orig. wr. of the separate issues of the magazine and without the leaves To Readers as usual [vol. 4 of our copy, however, contains the 2 To Readers leaves]. Attractively rebacked with fine matching backstrips.

Contains the first appearance of Doctor Syntax under the title The Schoolmaster's Tour (later published in bookform as Doctor Syntax in Search of the Picturesque), with the 28 plates by Thomas Rowlandson. The poem by William Combe "was composed (...) from the drawings of Rowlandson, and not, as would be expected, vice versa. (...)
