= Buijnsters, Bibliografie 18e eeuwse satirische tijdschriften in Ned. 28. Rare, complete set of these irregularly published satirical yearbooks (published under the guise of almanacs) - anti-clerical, pro-Orangist, anti-French - which were written, illustrated, printed and published by the naval doctor Pieter van Woensel (1747-1808).

Consists of a large number of anecdotes and biographical stories, typical for the special interest writers in the baroque era took in the calamities and misfortunes of especially the great of the world. This is the very often lacking 4th part to L. van den Bosch, Treur-toonneel der doorluchtige mannen, of op- en ondergang der grooten (...) (Amst., 1698, 3 vols.).

= With a contemporary owner's entry on title-page of brother Albericus de Ronghe (1615-1666), of the cistercian Saint Bernard monastery of Hemiksem. A plea questioning the legality of the acclamation of John IV, Duke of Braganza, as king of Portugal in 1640.

French) author George Psalmanazaar, who, after being educated by Jesuits, turned vagabond at the age of 16 and amazingly managed to trick most of his contemporaries into believing his fraudulent stories about his sojourn in Formosa.
