De recepten kunnen overal vandaan komen; ze zijn vaak modern, maar soms ook eeuwenoud, van Franse zowel als Engelse komaf, origineel of gewoonweg uit een kookboek overgeschreven. De eerste in de rij is de Volmaakte Hollandsche keuken-meid. Het verscheen in Amsterdam in november 1745 bij Steven van Esveldt. (...). Het succes dat dit kookboek had bracht de uitgever ertoe om, naar hij zelf zegt, de mensen met een smalle beurs ook in de gelegenheid te stellen een goedkope uitgave van de 'keuken-meid' aan te schaffen. In 1752 publiceert hij De Volmaakte grondbeginzelen van de keukenkunde met gecomprimeerde recepten uit De Hollandsche Keuken-meid plus nog eens 200 recepten extra. Hij verkocht dit boekje los, maar ook samengebonden met de beide andere delen." (Tol p.22-23).

= The first edition of the first complete Dutch topographical and historical history of Gelderland, by Arend van Slichtenhorst (±1615-1657), who studied in Leiden and became a lawyer in his native city Arnhem. As acknowledged on the title, the work was based upon, and partly a translation of, Pontanus' Latin Historiae Gelricae, published in 1639, but Slichtenhorst thoroughly revised, corrected and much enlarged the Latin original.
