Series of seven fold. double-p. bible maps, consisting of a worldmap and 6 bible maps w. surrounding pictorial borders (each consisting of 15 illustrations and a title-cartouche), each 28,5x48,5 cm. (worldmap 28,5x51 cm.), each w. letterpress text on verso.

- Left and right margin of worldmap trimmed to the border line and restored (remargined) and sl. wormholed in South-Pole on right hand; of the other engr. maps w. illustrated borders Poortman/ Augusteijn no. 3 and 5 are dam. in margin (w. loss of image); all maps are strengthened on folds and mostly also have strengthened margins (partly still w. some fraying); most maps yellowed/ browned on folds.

= Poortman/ Augusteijn chapter 21, no. 1, 2, 3, 3a, 4, 5 and 6 (ills. 72, 73, 75, 78, 79, 80 and 82). The 1st state (of 3) of the second series of bible maps by Petrus Plancius, published in ±1604. This second series is an adaptation of the first series by Plancius and Doetecom (the worldmap was left unaltered) (see Poortman/ Augustijn, chapter 18). On the worldmap see Shirley 177.
